Fly fishing trout
The lakes and rivers of the south of Argentina
surprise visitors for the variety of fishes that
inhabit them. Angling for trouts is an excellent
actitity and every year anglers from all around the world visit
the Patagonia to meassure their strenght against
these salmonids of pure race although they are not native of this
region.
Fly fishing trouts is a very popular activity
due to the crystal clear waters and the fighting of the fish once
it has been cheated by the bait. Introduced at the beginning of
the XIX century by the expert Pascasio Moreno, the patagonic
trout is famous for its abondance but also becuase of its
size an attractiveness.
There are various kinds of trouts:
- Rainbow trout: that owes its name to the range
of colours responsible for its attractiveness and popularity. They
go from purple to red and green and splashed with dark spots.
- Sea trout: known also as native trout for its
ability to adapt to the water of the lakes and of the sea. You can
obtain units of up to 10 kilos and has the typical silver colour
of the marine species.
- Brown trout: is the most savage og them all
and also the most common af all the species that inhabit the waters
of southern Argentina. You can obtain units of up to 14 kilos. It
is brown and golden and its abdominal is white with spots surounded
by a grey circle.
- Stream trout o salmonade trout (because of its
pink meat as the one pof the salmonds) it has a greenish colour
with red clear spots and in its back and the superior part of the
head.
- Others: ladlocked salmon, perca, patagonic silverside,
silverside bonaerense and carpa. The rest of the native species
(bagres, puyenes, peladillas y el salmón encerrado) should
be released to the water alive and with less possible damage.
